Day 4: History and Wine - Both Age Very Well

Celebrate the fascinating Georgian cultural heritage with some fine wine! After a delectable breakfast at the hotel at 9:00 am, your enthralling journey to Telavi will begin at 10:00 am as you set out to explore the largest town in Kakheti. You’ll be commencing your exploration at 12:00 noon by visiting the city centre of the picturesque town, set in the vineyard-strewn Alazani valley between the Gombori Mountains and the Caucasus. As the clock strikes 1:00 pm, you’ll be visiting the Alaverdi Monastery, which dates back to the beginning of the 11th century, and was one of the tallest structures of the era, which has helped it earn itself a place in the UNESCO World Heritage Site tentative list. The Alaverdi Cathedral has been repeatedly destroyed and restored, with its first restoration dating back to the 15th century and the second one occurred in the 18th century after an earthquake. After exploring Telavi, you’ll be travelling to Tsinandali at 3:00 pm, which is the residence of the 19th-century Prince, Poet, and Public icon, Alexsandre Chavchavadze.
